Effect of Long Day , Gibberellin and CCC on the Growth and Flowering of " Donner " Strawberry Plants which Finished Dormancy Period

Abstract
1. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of long day and GA on the growth and flowering of Donner strawberry plants, and the effect of growth retardant CCC on the activity of long day and GA, when the plants were treated with long day, GA and CCC after the dormancy of plants.
2. The growth of petiole, leafblade and cluster, and production of runner were promoted by the treatment of long day and GA.
3. Number of crowns, clusters, flowers, total leaves and dead leaves were not affected by long day and GA treatments. But the number of sound leaves was decreased and the early flowering was promoted by long day and GA.
4. CCC inhibited the growth promoting activity of long day, but it did not affect the growth promoting activity of exogenous GA.
5. It was suggested, therefore, that the mechanism of GA biosynthesis which is promoted by long day would be existed in strawberry plants, and that CCC inhibits the growth of strawberry plants through the inhibition of this mechanism.
